Transfer LEI
Switch the management of your current LEI to Trusted LEI
Consolidating your LEIs with one provider
Groups that grew by acquisition often end up with LEIs spread across several issuers in different countries, each with its own renewal date, login and invoice. A transfer moves an LEI to us without changing the code, so reports, onboarding files and payment instructions that reference it stay valid.
Transfers run through the GLEIF framework. We request each LEI from its current issuer, re-verify it against the home registry, and renew it if needed. Whole portfolios can be moved in one bulk order, and the group then renews together.
For a transfer we need
- The LEIs to be moved (a list is fine for bulk transfers)
- Confirmation from an authorised person in each entity, or a group-level authorisation
- Any registry changes since the last renewal, so they can be applied during the move
LEI transfer questions
Will our banks or counterparties need to update anything?
No. They hold your LEI code, which stays the same. Only the managing issuer shown in the public record changes.
Can the current issuer refuse the transfer?
GLEIF rules require issuers to allow transfers. They can only pause one while a challenge to the record data is open.
How long does a transfer take?
Usually a few working days per LEI, depending on how quickly the current issuer responds. Bulk transfers run in parallel.
